.xyz is live – SUCCESS!
Posted by Daniel Negari in Featured, gTLDs
It’s official. .xyz has had one of the most successful gTLD launches to date. In the first 24 hours alone, we have seen over 31,000 registrations from believers all over the world, with thousands more still pouring in. So far revenues from wholesale registration fees have well exceeded the $185,000 ICANN application fee.
If you read my last post, it is clear that I’ve always had a vision for .xyz to be the true-generic domain extension that the internet demanded. So how did we do it? In short, my team and I worked tirelessly over the past two years to leave no stone unturned. We partnered with registrars of all sizes and in all countries in order to get the maximum amount of distribution and customer awareness. We built a brand that people of all ages can identify with. We leveraged our passion to connect with millions of individuals through the media and our own marketing efforts. And this is just the beginning.
The feedback we’ve received over the past 24 hours has made all of the hard work worth it. We’ve had countless customers contact us just to express their excitement about getting their perfect domain names and joining the Generation XYZ community. And why wouldn’t they be? .xyz has finally given them the opportunity to build a memorable web presence for less than any other new domain extension out there.

I want to give a big THANK YOU to Team XYZ and everyone that has supported us so far. To all the investors that purchased domains in Day 1 – congrats, you are already in the money. I will write a follow up blog post about how to buy and sell .xyz domain names based on my experience as a domain investor.
And congratulations to the end-user registrants, like Jip.xyz and the many others. We are in the process of creating a tutorial section dedicated to helping you get the most out of your domain name. Subscribe to my blog to get the updates.
Best,
D

Just noticed I am alone, smiling like an idiot watching Daniel’s video. This guy optimism is communicative!
Good job, happy your first day has been a success!
Let’s see how much freedom we can get with posting comments @xyz site…
Here is my 5 cents: XYZ is pigeon shit and you are big fat liar. Period. Full stop.
Congratulations Daniel! Good job!! $$$$$
I love it!, all the non believer’s haha , I have 19 names all ready haha including netfix.xyz .
Look at that name and how easily brand able that is, see the little face in the x.x ?
this is what i mean, the next gen will take over with this kind of gTLD. It’s the process of evolution and natural selection. goodbye old time’s and hello future.
I’m 28 year’s old an aspiring producer, rapper (Dubstep rap etc)https://soundcloud.com/zillacon
And this for me is an opportunity of a lifetime to seal an online identity in a hip way that otherwise may never have happened. I’m grateful daniel!
And am confident that there will be alot of people thinking just like me.
By the way, the key placement is actually alot easier to type than .com or even .net, try it.
so to conclude my opinion , Good job and Its painfully obvious were all onto something cool, fresh and innovative.
Kudo’s homie.. haha

You realize that you won’t be able to keep any trademarks right ? Say goodbye to the money you spent on Netflix.xyz
As a matter of fact, it’s pretty stupid that the registrar allowed you to register the trademarks lol.
I just registered a new vanity email account for a .xyz domain!
